NYC Trip

A few days before the 4th, my friend D and I headed down to NYC for some shopping. For you Bostonians, we took the Limo Liner, which was really nice! There were hardly any riders, the seats and service were great. We too the Acela back, and they are comparable way to go to the city.

It was quick day trip, we hit up Uniqlo, where I got a great sweater for the fall, and then dropped by at Muji, cb2, and Jonathan Adler. We also got some scrumptious chocolates at Vosges, lunch at Mooncake foods (YUM!), and went to Peter Hermann in soho, where I got a new Orla Kiely wallet.

I'm so happy we went to cb2 - I got to check out some of the things I've been fixated on in their online store. The puddle pendant lamp is just as I pictured it, and I need to hurry up and get two for my living room. I was really surprised at how small the crochet tables were! More like plant stands than anything I would call a table! the rectangular side tables were really nice, but too short for what I'd like to do with them. The alchemy stool was a bit disappointing as well, nice materials and craftsmanship, but on the small side - I really was in love with this online, but not so much in person, it doesn't have as much presence as I thought it would.

Fireworks in a canoe on the Charles

Ever since I moved to Boston I've wanted to experience the July 4th fireworks from the Charles. This year I finally made it happen, I bought a canoe from craigslist this spring and borrowed my mom's canoe, and 5 of us paddled downtown. The pics don't do the experience justice - the fireworks were right over our heads, and the noise was awesome. There were so many boats of all shapes and sizes, and you get to see a rare perspective of the city when you're on the water. Paddling back to Soldier's Field was rough, but totally worth it. I don't know how I'm going to go back to watching them on shore.

A brand new bag

I made a bag for a friend of a friend last week. It's been along time since I made a bag, and it felt good!! It was one of my older patterns, but it came out really nice. I'm excited to try my new large tote-ish bag pattern I drafted....maybe in green!
